Original OEM SBC Front Mounted Motor Mount Example 

 



In order to do a conversion, you need to convert the motor mounts to the traditional side mounted style.

(Starting out in raw non painted steel so make sure you paint them before the final install otherwise they will rust. Otherwise they are offered in black textured powdercoat for a small additional charge)

You either have a beautiful seamless frame that looks entirely aftermarket and it is referred to as the "California" frame, or you have a boogered weld frame. The California frame is not limited to only California. From our experience when installing an LS engine into a California seamless frame it does not require notching the front engine crossmember. The seamed frame requires a substantial notch to clear the front of the LS engine.

We used a Holley 302-1 oil pan, the only cast aluminum pan that clears the rear steering cross link. 

 

The notch will need to be 3 inches deep and 3 inches down measured from the back side of the cross member and typically 14 inches wide.

 

We recommend using the Holley 302-1 Oil Pan to clear the factory rear steering.
