1962-1967 GM X Body



 

If your vehicle did not start out as a Chevy V8, you will need to acquire Chevy V8 frame perches for a direct bolt in swap.

1962-67 GM X-Body vehicles with a Chevrolet SBC V8 all used Short and Wide motor mounts.

OEM rubber motor mounts last much longer than aftermarkert rubber. Poly mounts essentially last a lifetime and don't need to be replaced.

(Starting out in raw non painted steel so make sure you paint them before the final install otherwise they will rust. Otherwise they are offered in black textured powdercoat for a small additional charge)

Oil Pan Options:


Aftermarket Rack and Pinion setups from Total Cost Involved or Church Boys Racing typically call for an F-Body (98-02 Camaro/Trans Am) oil pan. That means a Holley 302-2 or a 302-3 will also work. 

 

Stock Suspension:

1962-67 X Body have "rear-stear". That means the center crosslink/draglink/steering linkage is behind the engine crossmember. This makes fitting a rear sump oil pan quite difficult. If running the stock engine crossmember, the general go-to oil pan is a front sump from an 04-06 GTO. DO NOT BUY THEM USED if the tube assembly is broken as they are NLA. Currently GM is only selling the pan as a complete kit with all parts other than oil filter. Due to the rising cost and limited availability of this pan, you may want to look at Moroso front sump pans instead.

*Early stock oil pans used a PF46 oil filter while later models used a PF48 oil filter. If you buy a brand new oil pan, it will come with PF48 threads. In some cases it is easier to tell the local parts store you have a 2010 Camaro than to deal with explaining the differences.

Stock Front End? Go with the "Sanderson LS14" headers. These will clear stock gearbox!
