First Generation 1960-1966

1960-62 Frames are one inch shorter in height.  Stock V8 motor mounts(brace) are very rare and can be sold for a pretty penny on eBay. There were two V8 frame motor mount setups. The brace style as shown in the first set of photos and these odd towers in the second set of photos. The brace style is not compatible with any swap. Some people say they have used the tower style in a swap but you can sell them for way more than the cost of brand new 67-72 V8 frame perches. The 67-72 V8 frame perches may require slight notching the top of the side frame rails to be as skinny as a 68-72 C10. 1963-67 have wider frame rails and the reproduction 67-72 V8 frame stands from are generally made for the skinnier frame rails. The reason 1968-72 have skinnier frame rails is because 1968 was the first year that the BBC was offered and they needed a bit more space for the exhaust.

You can use the 67-72 V8 SBC Frame Perches  as long as you have an inch spacer on top of the frame or even the 73-91 C10/20 V8 Frame Perches although these will require further modifications such as drilling the engine crossmember and require the 73-91 Conversion Mounts for LS GEN III/IV or LT GEN V. C10 and C20 73-91 Frame Perches have different heights as well so you will have to accomodate for whatever setup you end up with. The frame width on 60-62's are more narrow than 63-91 C10/20's so unfortuantely you cant use our C10 adjustable transmission crossmember. The following two photos is a picture of 67-72 V8 C10 Frame Perches with the one inch spacer on top of the frame in a 1960-62 C10.

1963-66 If placing an LT GEN V engine in there, you may have to move the V8 Frame Perches forward one hole on the side frame rails and drill a new hole in the engine crossmember. If the vehicle originally came equipped with the 292 straight six, then the passenger side Frame Perch is offset and shorter compared to the V8 Frame Perch. Stock V8 Frame Perches use the rear holes on the frame and are straight across from each other. The driver side Frame Perch are all the same no matter what engine was originally in the vehicle. The following photos are the differences on the passenger side.

OER makes reproduction frame perches for SBC and BBC. Typically people go for the SBC perches as they have the small through bolt hole and don't require the additional rubber puck from underneath like BBC requires. They do not currently reproduce the 1972 BBC frame perches. 1960-62 will need a one-inch spacer block on top of the frame rail where the frame perch will rest on for correct geometry. If doing the Square Body V8 frame perch conversion, the C20's fit better than C10's.

Engine Accessories

There is a lot of room in C10s and most accessory brackets fit other than stock LS compressors (without notching the frame). Dirty Dingo low mount ac for LS GEN III/IV clears the frame, it may require moving the engine slightly more forward than stock position. Truck spacing would move the bracket to the furtherst forward mounting hole and allow you to push the engine back further than Camaro or Corvette spacing would allow you to go.

He needed some more room for activities and went with our Street Rod AC Combo Kit. The kit includes the AC bracket (only available in truck spacing),  Sanden SD7B10 model 7176, AND our custom billet fitting that allows you to run number 8 and number 10 AC hose fittings. Don't forget your number 8 and number 10 AC hose crimp fittings(not included in the kit).

On the drivers side, he went with our Street Rod High Mount Type 2 Setup (with our small diameter billet pulley for the 98-02 Camaro power steering pump along with our billet 90 degree fitting) for a remote reservoir to gain more clearance for his turbo. This alternator/power steering bracket is available in Truck spacing and Camaro spacing
